MSJC's Jaden Jones had a hit and RBI and a pair of stolen bases on Tuesday but the Eagle baseball team lost to visiting Citrus 13-8.

The MSJC baseball team fell behind in the fourth inning and could never quite recover as they dropped their 2022 home opener to Citrus 13-8.

After falling behind 5 runs in the top of the fourth the Eagles tried to fight their way back into the game scoring a pair of runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth when Will Potter doubled to right center to score Andre Torres and Phoenix Sommay.  Citrus however was able to push the lead back to 8-2 with three more runs in the fifth.  MSJC would make one more run at the Owls scoring 5 times in the bottom of the 5th to cut the lead to 8-6, but that was as close as the Eagles would come.

The Eagles did pound out 12 hits in the game led by three from Potter.  Sommay and Ryan Grinnals both had 2 hits in the loss.  Six different Eagles picked up an RBI in the game and MSJC combined to steal six bases, including two from Jaden Jones.

Alex Banuelos took the loss on the mound for the Eagles, he went 4 innings allowing 4 earned runs.

MSJC travels to Porterville for a three game series starting on Thursday with a single game at 2 pm.  Friday the two teams will play a doubleheader with games at 10:30 am and 1:30.
