The MSJC football team raced out to a comfortable lead and then held on in the second half Saturday as they won on the road at Glendale 50-28.

The fast start began just five plays into the game when quarterback Brett Virgil connected with Javier Luna on a 42 yard touchdown pass to give MSJC a 7-0 lead.  Just six minutes later Sherod White ran in his first of two TDs on the day to cap a 6 play 85 yard drive to give the Eagles a 14-0 lead after one quarter.  C.J. Sullivan would catch a Virgil pass midway through the second period to give MSJC a 21-0 lead at the half.

Karl Oates then extended the lead to 28-0 when he returned the first punt of the second half 70 yards for another Eagle score.  Glendale was able to get on the scoreboard in the third period with a pair of touchdowns to cut the lead in half to 28-14 with 7:25 remaining in the quarter.  Virgil would answer two minutes later when he scored from 12 yards out on quarterback keeper to push the lead back to 35-14.  A late TD in the third and an early one in the fourth for Glendale made the game interesting as they cut the lead to 35-28 with 12:12 to play in the contest.  The Eagles responded with a pair of late rushing touchdowns, one by White from 16 yards with 5:25 to play and then a long 42 yarder by Virgil in the final minute to put the game away.

Virgil and White both eclipsed the 100 yard mark on the ground with Virgil going for 151 yards on 14 carries and White gaining 119 on 14 runs.  Sullivan finished the day with a team high 4 receptions, Luna led in recieving yards with 75.

On defense Nate Anderson has his best game of the season with 6 total tackles, Dallas Frederick and Michael Erim had 5 each.  Steven Bradshaw and Erim each had an interception for the Eagles defense and Kervin Jones picked up a sack.

The Eagles now 4-0 on the season will be back at home at Carl Quandt Stadium Saturday when they host Los Angeles Harbor College in their 2019 Homecoming game.  There will be free admission to this week's game as well as a free Tailgate Party hosted by The MSJC Faculty Association, The MSJC Foundation, and MSJC President Dr. Roger Schultz.  The Tailgate festivities will begin at 11 am.
