Virgil and Bradshaw Headline Mountain League Football Honors

Brett Virgil and Steven Bradshaw were named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year in the American Mountain League as 14 Eagles were honored with all conference designations.

Virgil, the Eagles sophomore quarterback from Heritage HS, was responsible for 40 total touchdowns on the year as he threw for 27 and ran for 13 more.  Overall on the year Virgil finished with 2,647 yards passing and 694 yards rushing.  Virgil opened the season throwing five TD passes against LA Pierce on September 7th.  He then closed the regular season throwing for a season best 356 yards against Citrus on November 16th, in that game he also rushed for 94 yards leading the Eagles to a crucial overtime win.

Bradshaw led the entire SCFA in tackles this season with 108.  Brashaw had 57 solo tackles to go along with 51 assists giving him 9.8 tackles per game.  He also recorded 4 sacks, had 4 interceptions, and had a pair of forced fumbles.  The freshman from Paloma Valley High School also made 18.5 tackles for loss during 2019, he had a season high 16 tackles against College of the Desert on November 9th in a 34-20 win for the Eagles in the annual Palms to Pines Trophy game.

Joining Virgil and Bradshaw with First Team All-League honors were; Linebacker Dallas Frederick, safety Darryl Moody, offensive lineman Avante Robbs, running back Sherod White, and wide out C.J. Sullivan.  White was the team's leading rusher on the season with 915 yards on the ground.  He also caught 31 passes for 407 yards and scored 10 total touchdowns on the year.  Sullivan was the team's top reciever as he made 44 receptions for 663 yards and 12 TDs.  Robbs started every game on the line for the Eagles.  Frederick was the team's second leading tackler with 75 on the season including 8.5 for negative yardage.  Moody made 38 total tackles and led the Eagles in interceptions on the season with 6, he also had a sack and 5 pass break ups.

MSJC also had 7 players honored as Second Team All-league selections.  Four defensive players and three offensive were named as Michael Erim (defensive line), Josiah Pinon (defensive end), Dylan Morris (linebacker), and Jayden Dawson (cornerback) made the team on the defensive side of the ball.  Pinon had 53 total tackles and had a team high 6 sacks.  On offense two offensive linemen earned honors as both Bryan Alcaraz and Nicholas Gomez were named to the squad.  Doryan Cole earned 2nd team honors as a utility man on offense after playing both wide out and running back as well as returning kicks for the Eagles.

MSJC finished the season with an 8-3 record and were the runners-up in the American Mountain League.  The Eagles reached the Western States Bowl, marking the program's first bowl appearance since 2012.  Over the past two seasons the Eagles have a record of 15-6.
