The MSJC football team opened up an early lead on Saturday and let the defense take over as they cruised to their fourth straight win 31-0 over visiting Orange Coast College.

The Eagles scored twice in the opening quarter as Robert Coleman busted free on a 53 yard touchdown run on MSJC's first possession of the game.  After the defense forced the Pirates into a three and out on the next series, the Eagles scored again, this time on a 14 yard pass from Coleman to Matthew Caldera and MSJC would lead 14-0 after one quarter.  Midway through the second period Coleman would again score on the ground when he ran one in from 10 yards out capping an 8 play 56 yard drive and after a two point conversion the Eagles would lead 22-0 at the half.

MSJC's defense was strong all day as they continued to keep the Pirates off the scoreboard.  Nathaniel Peterson would add a 27 yard field goal in the third quarter and then a late touchdown pass from Coleman to Jevin Dorsey in the fourth would round out the day's scoring.

The Eagle defense held OCC to just 237 yards of total offense, just 81 yards through the air.  Steven Bradshaw had 11 total tackles, including a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss.  Naisir Morrow had 8 tackles and Nathan Ortiz also collected a sack for MSJC.  In all the Eagle defense made 7 stops for negative yardage on the day.

On offense Coleman finished his day throwing for 316 yards and rushing for a game high 95.  Taliq Brown had 7 catches for 97 yards while Dorsey had 90 total yards in receptions.  Eight different Eagles made receptions on the day.

The win improved MSJC's record to 4-1 on the season as they head into their bye week before starting conference play on October 15th.  On the 15th MSJC will host Grossmont at Carl Quandt Stadium with kick off set for 1 pm.
