Eagle Football to Host American Championship Bowl for Second Straight Season

The MSJC football team who last week captured their second straight American Mountain League championship will now set their sights on winning a second straight American Division title.

The Eagles finished the regular season 9-1 for the second straight year and will host American Metro League and unbeaten Citrus (10-0) on Saturday at Carl Quandt Stadium.  Kick off for Saturday's Championship game is set for noon.

The Owls enter the contest undefeated and averaging 36.3 points per game, while only allowing 13.9.  The offense led by quarterback Adam Urena is putting up just over 400 yards of offense per contest.  Urena has thrown for 30 touchdowns and 2,388 yards during the season, the Owls spread the ball around to numerous recievers, Robert Vega has a team best 5 TD receptions.  On the ground Jonathan Gurrero leads Citrus with 427 rushing yards and on defense Chandler Carthan is the team's leading tackler with 46 on the season and 4 sacks.

The Eagles who haven't lost a game since the opening week at Riverside went unbeaten in League play.  Robert Coleman led an offensive attack that averaged 39.7 points per game and 437 yards of total offense.  He threw for 2,722 yards and 26 TDs on the year.  His favorite target was Taliq Brown who hauled in 59 receptions for 793 yards and 7 touchdowns.  Jevin Dorsey added 43 catches for 577 yards.  Jaylen Magee was the Eagles top rusher and scorer on the season as he ran for 548 yards on 96 carries and scored 13 rushing touchdowns and also had four TD receptions.

The MSJC defense played well throughout the season as they dominated many second halves during the year.  Steven Bradshaw was the leader of the Eagle defense as he put up some impressive numbers.  Bradshaw finished the season leading the American Division with 9.8 tackles per game a season total of 88 in 9 games played, he also had 14 tackles for loss, a pair of sacks, and an interception.  Carsten Mamaril made a team high 4 interceptions on the season while Joseph Rapolla racked up a team best 5.5 sacks.  Nathan Ortiz was second on the team with 50 total tackles on the year.
