Men's Basketball Player Jamaal Barnes Signs With D1 Dixie State

MSJC men's basketball player Jamaal Barnes has signed a scholarship to continue his education and playing career at NCAA Division I Dixie State University.

Barnes played his first season of college basketball during the 2019-20 season for the Eagles and earned both First Team All Inland Empire Conference accolades as well as being named First Team All-State.  Jamaal averaged 18.5 points per game for the season and pushed that all the way up to 24.3 during the team's 16 conference games.  He was the team's leading scorer and also averaged just over 5 rebounds per contest.  Jamaal had a career high 41 on January 15th, 2020 in a win over College of the Desert.  He helped lead MSJC to their 12th straight play-off appearance.  The Eagles did not have a season in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Dixie State University is an NCAA Division I school that competes in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).  The school is located in St. George, Utah and is coming off a season in which they went 8-13 in a shortened season.
