Former Eagle Basketball Player Set to Play in the TBT

Former MSJC basketball player Dwayne Benjamin will be playing in the 2021 "The Basketball Tournament" where the top prize for the winning team is a million dollars.
Former MSJC basketball player Dwayne Benjamin will be playing in the 2021 "The Basketball Tournament" where the top prize for the winning team is a million dollars.

Former MSJC standout Dwayne Benjamin is set to play in this year's The Basketball Tournament (TBT) running July 16th through August 3rd. The tournament which has become a world wide event features a wide variety of teams and players that include; college alumni teams, international pros, ex-NBA players as well as future NBA players.  The tournament is currently being featured on ESPN with the winning team taking home a 1 million dollar prize.  The finals will be live on ESPN August 23rd.  Dwayne's team for the TBT is On Always and will be made up of several of his former Oregon teammates.  On Always will play their first game of the tournament on July 25th.

Benjamin had two outstanding seasons (2012-14) for the Eagles before earning a scholarship to The University of Oregon and has spent the last few years playing professionally all over the world.  At MSJC Benjamin led the team to a record of 46-16 over two seasons, during his freshman year he averaged 15.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.  In his sophomore season the Eagles posted a 25-5 record with Benjamin averaging 21.7 points and nearly 8 rebounds a contest, he scored over 25 points in nine different games. 

At Oregon Benjamin played in 34 of the team's 36 games as a junior averaging 8.4 points and 5.8 rebounds while playing over 23 minutes a game.  As a senior for the Ducks he was instrumental in the team's run to the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight.  Dwayne scored just under 8 points a game while making appearances in all 38 of the team's games as they finished the season 31-7.

Since his graduation from Oregon, Benjamin has played professionally in Denmark, Australia, Macedonia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and currently plays in Mexico.  During his pro career he was named an All Star in the Australian league and helped his team win the Slovak Cup while playing in Slovakia.
