Eagle Men's Tennis Team Battles in Loss to Mt. SAC

The men's tennis team hosted Mount San Antonio College on Thursday, February 17th.  The match was held at Valley-Wide Regional Sports Park due to a women's match on campus.  

In doubles, the #1 team of Andy Gibson and Gerson Rivera-Garcia challenged Mt. SAC's Lucas Van Zee and Nicholas Muranaka in a hard-fought pro-set, losing by a score of 4-8.  In the #2 doubles match, Patrick Bellah and John Gagnepain were even at 4-4 after eight games against Mt. SAC's Jason Padilla and Connor Auyong, however, the Mounties rallied back to win this seesawing doubles match with a final score of 8-5.

In #1 singles play, Gibson nearly forced a third set tie-breaker but Van Zee edged Gibson by a score of 6-1, 7-5.  Rivera-Garcia played very strong in the #2 singles position but Muranaka won 6-1, 6-3.  At #3 singles, MSJC's Gagnepain narrowly defeated Mt. SAC's Adrian Arellano 7-5, 6-4.

The Eagles fell to Mt. SAC by a final score of 1-8 dropping their overall season record to 1-4.  MSJC also dropped a tough match to El Camino 9-0 on February 22nd.

The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday March 1st when they host San Diego City at 2 pm on the San Jacinto Campus.
