Eagle Men's Tennis Defeats Imperial to Finish Conference Season at 6-6

The MSJC men's tennis team concluded their regular season on Thursday with a 7-2 win over Imperial Valley.  The Eagles now will play in the IEAC Tournament Tuesday and Wednesday in Victorville.
The MSJC men's tennis team concluded their regular season on Thursday with a 7-2 win over Imperial Valley. The Eagles now will play in the IEAC Tournament Tuesday and Wednesday in Victorville.

The MSJC men's tennis team played their final regular season match on Thursday and won at home against Imperial Valley 7-2.

The Eagles won two doubles matches as the duos of Michael Masarani & Anthony Torres-Martinez won 8-1, while Benjamin Taylor and Chad Hayes picked up an 8-4 victory.

In singles MSJC pulled away from the Desert Warriors as they won five of the six matches.  Masarani won his #1 match 6-0 and 6-0, while Torres-Martinez and Hayes also won in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-2.  Taylor jumped ahead a set in his match as he took the first 6-1, but then fell in the second 4-6, before winning the tie-breaker 11-9.  Anthony Walmer also fought back for a win after falling 3-6 in his matches' opening set, before he rallied to win the second 6-3, and the tie breaker 10-8.

The win concluded MSJC's conference schedule with a record of 6-6, they finished fourth in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference.  MSJC was 7-10 overall for the year.

The Eagles will now travel to Victorville on Tuesday and Wednesday for the IEAC Tournament.  Masarani is expected to get one of the top seeds in the singles competition, while he along with Torres-Martinez are also expected to be seeded in the doubles draw.
