The MSJC softball team has begun Inland Empire Athletic Conference play, as they dropped a doubleheader to Chaffey and had a tough extra inning loss to College of the Desert.

The Eagles opened conference play on Friday and came out on the short end of a pair of home games against Chaffey losing 10-0 and 3-0.  In the first game of the day the Eagles defense let them down as they made four errors in the game and allowed the Panthers to have a 5 run third inning on their way to the loss.  Veronika Pardo and Victoria Rodruguez came up with MSJC's only 2 hits of the contest.  In game two the Eagles responded with a very well pitched game from Amy Perrault as she allowed just 3 runs in 7 innings, but the offense was once again shut out as they managed just three hits, two from Briana Zavala.

Wednesday MSJC traveled to Palm Desert to take on College of the Desert and could not hold on to a 3 run lead in the 7th and despite scoring 3 times in the top of the 8th eventually lost the game 11-10.  A big 5 run 4th inning gave MSJC a 7-3 lead, but the Roadrunners came back with one in the bottom of the sixth and 3 in the 7th to force extra innings.

Chelsi Washburn had a big offensive day with a pair of hits including a triple, she knocked in 5 runs.  Ariana Castellon drove in two runs for MSJC while Perrault also picked up an RBI.

The Eagles are now 2-9 overall on the season and 0-3 in IEAC games.  The team returns to action with a non-conference doubleheader at Antelope Valley on Friday.  The Eagles next home contest in Menifee is Wednesday March 2nd at 2 pm against Cerro Coso.
