Lady Eagles Basketball Closes Out Regular Season With Win

The MSJC women's basketball team rounded out the regular season on Friday night with a 92-44 win over visiting College of the Desert to conclude PCAC North play undefeated.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 16-5 lead after the first quarter and increased that margin to 37-14 by halftime.  In the third period MSJC erased any doubt of who would win the game out scoring the Roadrunners 29-12 to take  a commanding 66-26 lead into the final quarter.

Alyssa Walton led a balanced scoring attack for the Lady Eagles with 17 points, she also grabbed 9 rebounds.  Janya Smith came off the bench to score 14 in the victory for MSJC while Sharonda Edwards had a

double double with 12 points and a game high 16 rebounds.  Raena Lasley (11), Iasia Bailey (11), and Kaelee Kelly (10) all also reached double figures in scoring for the Lady Eagles.  MSJC dominated the glass in the contest as they out rebounded Desert 76-34.

The win concluded the regular season for the Lady Eagls with a record of 23-6 overall, they finished PCAC play at 7-0 (*8-0, officially due to a forfiet by San Bernardino).  The conference title was the 7th in

program history for MSJC and the 5th in the past 7 seasons, this is just the second time the program has gone undefeated in conference play, the other coming in 2007.

 

MSJC will find out their play-off seeding later on this afternoon (Monday).
