Women's Basketball Clinches PCAC Title With Win at Palomar

The MSJC women's basketball team clinched the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division Championship on Friday night with a road win at Palomar 66-63.

The Lady Eagles shook off a rugged start shooting as they connected on just 6 of 42 shots from the field in the first half and trailed by 10 at the break. MSJC was able to cut the lead down to four headed into the final period as they out scored the Comets 21-15 in the third. In the fourth MSJC was able to push their way ahead for good in the final three minutes on the way to the victory.

Britney Neely led the way in scoring with 17 points for MSJC as four players reached double figures. Haylei Janssens had a double double with 16 points and a team high 11 rebounds. Sharonda Edwards and Alyssa Walton just missed double doubles as Edwards finished with 11 points and 9 boards while Walton had 10 and 9.

The win captured the Lady Eagles second straight conference title and their fifth in the past seven seasons. MSJC is now 22-6 on the year and 6-0 in PCAC action while Palomar fell to 20-7 and 4-2, both teams have just one regular season game remaining on their schedules.

MSJC will finish off the regular season with a "Sophomore Night" game on Friday February 22nd when they host College of the Desert at 5 pm.
