MSJC Soccer Knocks Off Norco

MSJC's #21 Ruby Douhan had a goal and an assist on Tuesday as the Eagle soccer team won at home over Norco 3-1.

The MSJC soccer team had a 1-0 lead at the half on Tuesday and held on to win a key Inland Empire Athletic Conference match over visiting Norco College 3-1.

The Eagles battled through a defensive first half with the Mustangs until the 36th minute when MSJC grabbed the lead on a goal by Dominique MoralesAngela Serrano had an assist on the Morales goal which turned out to be the only score of the first half.  Norco would answer with an early second half goal as they knotted up the score at 1-1 in the 49th minute.  The Eagles then scored a pair of goals at the 60th and 67th minute to seize control of the match.  Chloe Baeza scored on assist from Ruby Douhan with 30 minutes left to play and then Douhan scored a goal of her own just 7 minutes later with an assist from Riley Marshal.

The MSJC defense took over from there as goal keeper Corayma Garcia recorded 5 saves and the Eaglese kept the Mustangs from scoring for the rest of the match.

The win moved the Eagles into third place in the IEAC standings with a conference record of 3-2, they are now 5-6-2 overall.  Norco fell to 2-3 in league play and 4-8-1 on the season.

MSJC will hit the road for a match at San Bernardino Valley on Friday with kick off set for 4 pm.
