Volleyball Sweeps Miramar at Home, Struggles at Mesa Quad

The MSJC volleyball team went 1-2 over a busy weekend as they won Friday night at home and dropped a pair of tough matches in San Diego on Saturday.

The Eagles started the weekend with an impressive 3-0 sweep of San Diego Miramar as they won 25-12, 25-12, and 25-14.  Mckenna Conklin had a match high 13 kills to lead the Eagle offense while both Kennidy Martin and Jaleesa Robinson had 6 each.  Trysta Vincelli had 26 assists in the victory as well as picking up a team high 9 digs.

Saturday MSJC traveled to San Diego for a pair of matches against San Diego Mesa and College of the Canyons.  In their first match Saturday the Eagles fell to Mesa 10-25, 13-25, and 9-25.  Brooklynn Thomas had a team best 4 kills in the loss while Laelanie Isbell and Chloe Mata both picked up 7 digs a piece.

In the second match of the day Canyons was able to sweep the Eagles as MSJC lost 18-25, 12-25, and 20-25.  Martin had 6 kills in the loss while both Thomas and Conklin added 5 each, Vincelli had 18 assists.  On defense Thomas had 10 digs while Conklin picked up 9 and Vincelli 8.

MSJC is now 5-5 on the season and will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Grossmont for a 1 pm match.  The Eagles also travel to LA Mission this weekend for a tournament.
