The MSJC volleyball team won the opening set on Wednesday night, but that would be it as College of the Desert defeated the Eagles in San Jacinto 3-1.

The Eagles won the opening set after a bit of a slow start 25-22, but would go on to lose by scores of 20-25, 17-25, and 23-25 in the next three.  The loss was the first in conference play for MSJC after 17 straight league wins which included an undefeated 10-0 mark in 2021.  The Inland Empire Athletic Conference loss was the Eagles first since November 8th of 2019 when they lost to Desert on the road.

MSJC, the two time defending conference champions, are now one game behind the Roadrunners in the league standings with six IEAC matches remaining.

Mckenna Conklin and Brooklynn Thomas paced the MSJC offense on Wednesday with 14 and 12 kills.  Kennidy Martin added 6 kills and also anchored the net defense with 4 block assists.  Chloe Mata picked up a team high 14 digs while Trysta Vincelli had 20 assists.

For the season the Eagles are now 10-8 overall and 3-1 in the IEAC.  MSJC travels to Copper Mountain on Friday for a 5 pm match, before playing a non-conference contest next Wednesday on the road at Saddleback.
