MSJC Splits Final Beach Matches of Regular Season

The MSJC Beach volleyball team wrapped up their inaugural regular season on Friday with home matches against San Diego Mesa and Palomar.

The Eagles lost to Mesa 5-0, but rebounded to defeat Palomar 3-2.  In the Palomar contest the Eagles won two pivatol three set matches at the #2 and #3 spots to earn the victory.  Luci Villafana and Alicia Vasquez teamed to win at #2 17-21, 21-18, and 15-13 in an exciting back and forth match.  In the #3 match it was Keana Sanzotera and Laelanie Isbell who went three sets to calim the victory 22-20, 14-21, and 15-12.  The Eagles picked up their third point in the #5 match as Audrey Underwood and Iris Del Valle won in straight sets 21-14 and 21-18 to secure the team victory.

The two matches on Friday concluded the Eagles' first ever Beach Volleyball regular season.  The team finished the regular season 5-15 overall and 3-7 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, which landed them in fourth place.

The Eagles now turn their attention to the individual PCAC tournament which will be held at Grossmont on Wednesday April 27th and Friday April 29th.  The tournament is a single elimination bracket with the top 7 pairs qualifying for the CCCAA Southern California Regional Tournament.
