Beach Volleyball Splits Matches With Ventura, Cerritos

The MSJC beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on Friday as they hosted Ventura and Cerritos on the Menifee Campus.

The Eagles fell to the Pirates of Ventura 5-0 as all five matches were straight set losses, but they rallied back in the second match of the day to defeat Cerritos.

In the Cerritos match, the Ealges won in convincing fashion 4-1.  The #1 pair of Alicia Vasquez and Chloe Mata set the tone on the day as they won 21-16 and 21-16 to get MSJC off on the right foot.  Mckenna Conklin and Trysta Vincelli won at #2 21-18 and 21-19, while Kennidy Martin and Laelanie Isbell also won a tight match at #3 21-19 and 21-17.  In the #4 pair Iris del Valle and and Kalia Anady won their first set easily 21-4, but then had to hold on in the second set to win 24-22.

The win over Cerritos improved the Eagles record on the year to 5-8.  MSJC returns to action on Friday when they travel to San Diego to take on San Diego Mesa and San Diego Miramar.  The Eagles next home matches are on Friday March 31st when they host Palomar and Grossmont on the Menifee Campus.
