Beach Volleyball Splits Home PCAC Matches

The MSJC beach volleyball team split a pair on Pacific Coast Athletic Conference home matches on Friday in Menifee as they defeated San Diego City, but lost a close one to Mira Costa.

The Eagles started the day with a 5-0 sweep of the Knights.  Josephine Springer and Brooklynn Thomas got things rolling in the #1 match as they won 21-12 and 21-12.  Carley Kruse and Lauren Cummings also won in straight sets at #2 21-18 and 21-15, in fact when the match was over all five MSJC teams won in straight sets.  Brooklyn Jimenez and Mckenna Conklin won at #3 21-12 and 21-6, Megan Gajda and Trysta Vincelli picked up a 21-10, 21-8 win and Anna Ayala and Tracy Blanchard wrapped up the sweep with a 21-11, 21-6 victory.

In their second match of the day the Eagles were edged out by the Spartans 3-2.  The teams of Kruse and Cummings as well as Gajda and Vincelli each won a point for MSJC.

The Eagles now have a record of 9-8 on the season and are 4-2 in PCAC matches.  MSJC will travel to San Diego Mesa on Friday to take on both Mesa and Grossmont.  Friday April 12th will be the Eagles final regular season home match of the year when they host Grossmont and Palomar begining at 9 am.
