Beach Splits a Pair, Earns Tenth Win of Season

The MSJC beach volleyball team earned their tenth win of the season on Friday as they defeated San Diego City 5-0.

The Eagles were coming off a tough loss earlier in the day to Mira Costa 3-2. In the match against the Spartans MSJC picked up wins at the number one and number five spots in the line-up. At number one the duo of Josephine Springer and Korie Milan won 21-15 and 23-21 while the number five team of Angelina Browder and Kalia Anady won 21-13 and 23-21. MSJC almost pulled off the victory but lost a tight match at number three when Jade Tolliver and Anna Ayala lost 21-8, 18-21, and 12-15.

The San Diego City match featured just three actual matches as the Knights were forced to forfeit at numbers four and five. Springer and Milan won again at number one 21-15 and 21-8 while the number two pair of Megan Gajda and Brooklyn Jimenez won 21-6 and 21-6. Tolliver and Ayala finished off the sweep at number three with a 21-7, 21-9 win.

The Eagles now 10-8 overall on the season and 4-2 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play will be back in action on Friday when they travel to San Diego Mesa. MSJC will take on both Mesa and Grossmont on Friday with the first match of the day beginning at 9 am.
