Milan and Springer Win Four of Five, Headed to State

The MSJC beach volleyball pair of Korie Milan and Josephine Springer won four of five matches over the weekend at the 3C2A SoCal Regional Tournament to qualify for this weekend's state championships.

The duo started the tournament on Friday and won their opening round match against a team from Irvine Valley 21-11 and 21-12. In a very tough second round match the Eagles came up short losing to Johnston and Matthews from Golden West 19-21 and 18-21 forcing them into the back draw.

The pair would rally in the back draw to be credited with a pair of wins over teams from El Camino and San Diego Mesa setting up a ninth-place showdown with a team from Mt. SAC. In their final match of the tournament Springer and Milan won the opening set 21-17 before dropping the second 15-21. In a back and forth third set MSJC prevailed for the 18-16 victory.

The pair will now compete in the 3C2A State Championships Friday and Saturday at Long Beach City College. The draw for this weekend will be announced later in the week.
