Eagle Baseball Improves to 5-3 With Win at Citrus

​The MSJC baseball team collected 13 hits on Tuesday as they defeated Citrus College 8-6 in a non-conference match up in Glendora.


The Eagles jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning when Gavin Gates, Kevn Gameros, and Carson McCafferty each picked up an RBI. After letting the lead slip away in the 5th, MSJC responded with a pair of runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to regain control of the game. In the sixth Shawn McAdams and Joseph Bangle each drove in a run and then in the 7th Joe Houck drove in another, before Bangle struck again with a 2 RBI single to left field.


Ryan Zapata picked up the pitching victory for the Eagles pitching just 2/3 of an inning in relief​ while Devin Combs earned the save by going 2 and 2/3 to close out the game allowing no runs and no hits. Bangle, Rigo Cano, Shane Mittleman, McAdams, and Hauck each finished the day with 2 hits a piece.


The win improves MSJC to 5-3 on the season while Citrus fell to 1-6-1. The Eagles are scheduled to travel to Barstow on Thursday for a 1 pm game and then host the Vikings on Friday also with first pitch scheduled for 1 pm.
