The MSJC baseball team split two games with San Diego City and then won a thrilling 10 inning contest at Mt. SAC last week to improve to 9-2 on the season.

The Eagles started the week with a tough 6-3 home loss to San Diego City on Tuesday.  MSJC trailed 4-0 heading to the bottom of the 5th and made a run at the Knights as they scored three times in the inning.  The Eagles took advantage of an error and a wild pitch to go along with a Juni Rodriguez RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3, but that's as close as they would get.  Greg Luna and Tanner Aoki both had two hits in the loss while Pierce Sailer suffered his first pitching loss of the season as he went 6 innings allowing 4 earned runs and struck out 7.  Sailer is now 3-1 on the year.

Thursday the Eagles bounced back when they traveled to San Diego and beat the Knights 6-2.  A strong pitching outing by Julian Castro helped the Eagles to victory is he went six complete giving up just two runs and striking out 6.  Dominick Lombardi got the offense going early as he hit a two run double in the top of the first.  Dayton Thompson would add an RBI single in the fifth and Christian Smith blasted a solo homerun in the 6th.  Nate Prinkey would add and insurance run in the 9th with a run scoring single.

Saturday the Eagles wrapped up their week with a 6-3 ten inning victory at Mt. SAC.  Kyle Serna had a two RBI triple in the top of the 3rd, while MSJC added another run on a passed ball in the 4th.  Mt. SAC would rally though to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th to force extra innings.  In the top of the 10th the Eagles responded by scoring three runs, Smith had a 2 run single and then scored on a Rodriguez double.  Evan Stratton picked up the win as he came in to end the 9th inning going 2/3 of an inning.  Trysten Eddy picked up the save as he shut out the Mounties in the 10th with a pair of strikeouts.

The Eagles, 9-2 on the season are now set to open Inland Empire Athletic Conference play this week with three games against San Bernardino Valley.  Due to rain in the area these games are now expected to be played Thursday-Saturday with Friday's game at MSJC while the other two will be in San Bernardino.
