Football Wins Regular Season Finale; Heading to Second Straight Bowl Game

MSJC's Rahoud Shelton had 9 receptions for 146 yards and two TDs on Saturday as the Eagles won at College of the Desert 72-48.

The MSJC football team completed their regular season on Saturday by defeating College of the Desert for the second time in four weeks as they won in Palm Desert 72-48.

The Eagle offense put on a show as they had 599 yards of total offense and blew open a close game in the second half.  MSJC led at halftime 35-28 and then out scored the Roadrunners 21-6 in the third period to take control of the game.  Sherod White had another 100 yard rushing game as he ended the day with 101 on 11 carries.  Eagle quarterbacks Devan Freedland and Robert Coleman combined to complete 22 of 33 passes for 344 yards and 5 TDs.  Freedland threw 3 scoring passes while Coleman threw 2 and added 80 yards on the ground.  Wide out Taylor Tosches also got his chance to throw a pass in the game and he connected with Freedland for a 6 yard touchdown.  Tosches also had a receiving touchdown in the game.  Rashoud Shelton had another outstanding day for the Eagles as he caught a game high 9 passes for 146 yards and a pair of TDs, while Taliq Brown and White also had touchdown receptions.

On defense Nazier Morrow mad a game and season high 12 total tackles for MSJC.  Kelvin Davis had 7 tackles and an interception while Jahiel Blue-Smith also had a pick.

The win wraps up the regular season for MSJC with an 8-1 record, they will wait to see when and where their bowl game will be played.  This will be the Eagles second straight bowl appearance.
