MSJC's David Thompson signed a NCAA Division I basketball scholarship on Wednesday with Santa Clara University.

MSJC men's basketball player David Thompson signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to continue his college basketball career at NCAA Division I Santa Clara University.

Thompson, a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was named the co-Player of the Year in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division this past season as well as being named First Team All-State.

Thompson was the Eagles' leading scorer during the 2018-19 season averaging 17.3 points per game while helping the team to a 22-6 record.  Thompson also led the team in assists at 4.6 a contest and steals with 1.7.  Thompson had an impressive season shooting the ball as he connected on 46.5% of his three point attempts on the year making 67 of 144.  David, who averaged 10 points a game as a freshman, finished his career at MSJC playing in 54 games.  In his 54 games played he scored 743 points and dished out 213 assists.

Santa Clara is coached by Herb Sendek and is a member of the West Coast Conference.  The Broncos are coming off a season in which they went 16-15 and had wins over USC and San Diego.
