The MSJC men's basketball team blew open a close game in the final 10 minutes as they won their home opener on the season over MiraCosta 81-57.

The Eagles held just a five point advantage at the half, taking the lead for good on a three point play by Josh Hardiman with 6:31 to play in the first at 21-19.  That possession was followed by a 3 point jumper from Isaiah Skinner to push the lead to 24-19 and the Eagles never looked back.  The lead however didn't reach double digits until Ethan Bell hit a pair of free throws with 7:37 left in the game to make it 60-50.  MSJC dominated the glass on the evening as they out rebounded the Spartans 55-29 in the contest.

Danilo Da Silva led the offensive charge for the Eagles with 22 points, 20 of them coming in the second half.  Hardiman had his second straight double double as he scored 18 and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Skinner also reached double figures in scoring with 12 and Mekhi Hill came off the bench to add 10.  Anton Mozga had his third straight big game on the boards as he hauled in 19 rebounds to go along with 6 points and 5 assists.

The win for the Eagles was their third straight and improved their record on the season to 3-2.  MSJC will be back in action next Tuesday when they host Palo Verde in a non-conference game.  Next Tuesday's game is part of a doubleheader with the women's team with the women's game tipping off at 5 pm with the men to follow at 7.
