MBB: MSJC Earns Two Victories to Begin Inland Empire Conference Action

The MSJC men's basketball team opened league play last week and earned victories over Cerro Coso and Victor Valley.

On Wednesday Dasean Stevens had a monster game as he led the Eagles to a 96-86 home win over Cerro Coso.  Stevens scored a game high 36 points on just 18 shots from the field as he connected on 6 of 9 three point shots.  He also added 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the win.  Cameron Durr also was very efficient for MSJC as he came off the bench to score 22 points on 7 of 14 shooting as he connected on four shots from long range.  BJ Brown added a season high 18 points as well while Kyle Render reached double figures with 10.

Saturday the Eagles built a 53-39 lead at halftime and went on to win against Victor Valley 87-69.  Five Eagles reached double figures in scoring as MSJC had 26 assists on 32 made baskets.  Brown matched his output from Wednesday as he scored 18 to lead the way, Render had 17 while Durr added 13.  Alex Miller nearly had a double double as he finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds while Mateo Blocker reached double figures in scoring with 11.  Stevens, Render, Brown, Durr, and Jackson Bernardo each had 5 assists for MSJC.

The two wins improve the Eagles record on the season to 10-2 overall they are 2-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.  MSJC gets a short break until after Christmas, when they return they will travel to Imperial Valley on December 28th and host Pasadena City College on December 30th.
