The MSJC men's basketball team picked up a big home conference win on Wednesday night as they defeated visiting Chaffey 88-81.

The Eagles trailed by 3 at the half 41-38 in a game that saw both teams shoot the ball very well in the opening 20 minutes.  A Cameron Durr lay-up with 15:33 to play in the game gave MSJC a 50-48 lead, one they would hold onto the rest of the contest.  The Eagles pushed the lead to as much as 10 at 60-50 with 10:42 to play, but Chaffey kept it close getting it down to three on four separate occasions.  Durr hit a big three pointer for the Eagles with 2:37 to play on an assist from BJ Brown that pushed the MSJC lead back to six and seemed to be the basket that finally gave the Eagles some breathing room.  Dasean Stevens made 8 of 10 free throws in the final minute and a half to put the game away.

Stevens finished the game with a team high 24 points for the Eagles, he also had 8 rebounds and 4 assists.  Durr ended his night with 13 points.  Brown and Mateo Blocker also reached double figures in scoring with 17 and 15.  Brown added a game best 6 assists.  Alex Miller pulled down a game high 11 rebounds for MSJC.

The Eagles improved to 6-1 in the IEAC with the victory and maintained sole possession of second place in the league standings, they are 14-4 overall.  MSJC returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Barstow for a 3 pm game, Monday the Eagles will travel to Cerro Coso for a 5 pm game.
