The MSJC men's basketball team fought from behind Wednesday night on the road and prevailed in overtime as they defeated Copper Mountain 92-90.
The Eagles trailed by 7 at the half after the Fighting Cacti hit a buzzer beating three right before the break. In the second half the Eagles trailed by as much as 8, before storming back to hold a two point lead with less than 5 seconds to play. CMC would make a game tying shot with under three seconds remaining and a desperation half court shot by the Eagles came up short sending the game to overtime.
In overtime a pair of Kyle Render three point shots and two technical foul free throws by Dasean Stevens gave MSJC the advantage. Cameron Durr then added a pair of free throws with one minute to play to give the Eagles their final points of the night. CMC did have a chance to send the game into double overtime, but a drive to the rim was thwarted by Elijah Shirley as he came up with a big block as time expired.
Stevens finished the night with a game high 35 points as he connected on 5 of 8 shots from long range. Render added 25 points and Durr finished with 16. Shirley added a team best 11 rebounds to go along with 6 points, a block and an assist.
