MBB Open Season With a Pair of Wins

The MSJC men's basketball team opened their season with two home wins last week as they defeated Palomar and Golden West.

The Eagles opened the season Wednesday with a 111-101 win over Palomar.  The offense was in mid-season form from the beginning as MSJC ran out to a 53-43 halftime lead.  BJ Brown had a huge opening night as he scored a game high 30 points and connected on four 3 point shots.  Isiah Shirley came off the bench to add 20 points and 8 rebounds, while Dasean Stevens added 18 points and 4 assists, and Isaiah Skinner added 17 points in the victory.  In all MSJC made 10 of 24 three point shots and out rebounded the Comets 50-41.

Friday the Eagles jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 98-78 win over Goldenwest.  MSJC took a 48-33 lead into the locker room and then continued to keep the pressure on in the second half.  Brown once again led the way in scoring with 27 points he also tied Jackson Bernardo for team high honors in assists at 5.  Stevens added 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Shirley came off the bench again to add 16 points and Skinner just missed a double double with 11 points and 9 rebounds.

The Eagles return to action on Friday when they travel to Cuyumaca for a 5 pm game.
