The MSJC men's basketball team defeated Cuyumaca and West Hills-Lemoore over the weekend to win the Coyote's Tournament in El Cajon.
Friday the Eagles defeated the host team Cuyumaca 92-72 as Dasean Stevens led the offensive attack with 21 points and 6 assists. Isaiah Skinner recorded a double double as he scored 20 points and pulled in a game high 11 rebounds. BJ Brown made six three point shots on his way to 18 points and Isiah Shirley also reached double figures in scoring with 11. Tyler Frazier-Mathews came off the bench to add 8.
Saturday in the tournament championship game MSJC led 49-38 at the half and then broke the game open against West Hills winning 106-74. Stevens had a game high 26 points and a game high 10 rebounds for MSJC, while Skinner was right behind him with 25 points on the day. Jackson Bernardo scored a career high 20 points in the victory and dished out 5 assists. Shirley once again hit double figures with 16 points and Frazier-Mathews added 12.
The Eagles are now 4-0 on the season and will host a pair of home games this week. Wednesday MSJC will host San Diego Mesa at 7 pm and Saturday the Eagles take on LA Harbor at 3 pm.
