Second Ranked Eagles Move to 11-0; Open IEAC Play This Week

The MSJC men's basketball team won three games at the Hypland Holiday Tournament hosted by Riverside City College this week to stay unbeaten on the season.

The Eagles opened the tournament Wednesday with a 79-66 win over host RCC.  Dasean Stevens began his explosive week with a 28 point, 7 rebound, and 5 assist performance.  BJ Brown had 25 points on 6 made three point shots and Isaiah Skinner added 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Thursday MSJC led by 7 at the half and pulled away in the second to defeat East Los Angeles 89-71.  Stevens scored a season high 36 points to lead the offense while Isiah Shirley came off the bench to score 20.  Jackson Bernardo had a solid game adding 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists.

In Saturday's final game of the event, MSJC trailed 32-31 at the half, before out scoring Saddleback 52-31 in the second to win over the Bobcats 88-63.  Stevens turned in his second straight 30 point plus game with 32, he also grabbed 7 rebounds, and had 3 assists.  Isiah Shirley contributed 19 points, while Brown had 12.  Elijah Shirley had a game high 14 rebounds to go along with 7 points.

The Eagles, currently ranked #2 in the State are now 11-0 on the season, and will start play in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference on Thursday.  MSJC will travel to Blythe on Thursday to take on Palo Verde College in their IEAC opener.  Tip-off on Thursday is set for 6 pm.
