MBB: Eagles Win on the Road, Advance to Regional Final

The MSJC men's basketball team went on the road Saturday night and came away with a 94-86 win at Moorpark to advance to the 3C2A Southern California Regional final next week.

The two team battled through a very offensive first half and went into the locker room tied at 50-50.  Isaiah Skinner kept MSJC in the game in the first half as he scored 16 of his 20 points on the night in the opening half.  BJ Brown took the mantle in the second half for the Eagles as he scored 18 of his 20 in the game in the second 20 minutes.  In a back and forth game, Dasean Stevens hit a three point shot with 16:50 to play that put MSJC up 58-56, they would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.

When the game was over MSJC had six players reach double figures in scoring, Skinner and Brown both had 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Stevens ended the night with 17 points and a team high 8 rebounds.  Jackson Bernardo added 13, Isiah Shirley had 12 and Elijah Shirley scored 10.

The Eagles improved to 27-3 with the victory and now will travel to Fullerton next Saturday March 9th to take on the Hornets in the Regional Finals.  MSJC, who is the #9 seed in the South will be taking on #1 seed Fullerton, who enters the game with a record of 26-4.  The winner next Saturday will advance to the 3C2A State Elite Eight.
