
The MSJC men's golf team had their best day of the conference season to date on Monday finishing in fifth place at the fifth Orange Empire meet of the year.
The Eagles turned in a team score of 393 to give them an even 4-4 record on the day in the nine-team event. Isaiah Torres continued to lead the way for MSJC as he posted a team best 72 at Bear Valley Country Club in Victorville. Torres has already had a pair of rounds in the sixties this season, shooting 69 at the Navy Club and 68 in Costa Mesa.
Akoni Johnston shot 74 on Monday followed by a 78 from Bradon Walker. Anthony Saavedra had a solid 80 for the Eagles in his first conference appearance of the year. McLain Brigham rounded out the counted scores on the day with an 89.
The 393-team total was MSJC's second lowest in conference play this season and was seven strokes better than sixth place Mt. SAC. Orange Coast earned the top spot for the day with a team score of 368 followed by College of the Desert at 376. Cypress and Riverside took the third and fourth spots with scores of 378 and 388.
The Eagles, who now have a conference record of 10-30, will be back in action on Monday March 31st when they travel to Victoria Club in Riverside.
