The men's tennis team opened the 2020 season with a 6-3 home victory over SD Mesa.  The Eagles improved to 1-0 and were led by freshman Fermin Blando in the number two singles position with a 6-1, 6-2 win.

Additionally, freshmen, Julian Valencia and Isaac Morales both swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0 respectively. Sophomore, Ashton Vega, had a decisive 6-1, 6-0 triumph in his match in the number 5 singles spot.  Freshman, Fernando Arguello dropped a hard fought match in three sets in the number one singles position. The Eagles took one of the three doubles matches by default. And both teams of Cody Rodriguez and Fernando Arguello as well as Nick VanDyke and Joel Delgado fell short, despite making a solid comeback effort in both.  The team is in action again on Tuesday, when they travel to Riverside to take on RCC.

Coach Cory Page who is in his first season as the Eagles head coach said of Friday's match,  "Today was a solid team win.  Our team has been working really hard the past couple of weeks and it is beginning to pay off.  We are excited to see what the season holds, but we know, with our schedule, that we have a lot of work to do".

Blando was also pleased with the way the season began,  "I was happy with the win today, our team is in a good position moving forward", said Blando.
