Men's Tennis Nearing Conclusion of Regular Season

The MSJC men's tennis team played three hard fought matches over the past six days as they begin to prepare for the Inland Empire Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Eagles fell to perennial state power College of the Desert on Thursday in Palm Desert 9-0.  MSJC lost 6-1 on Friday at home against visiting San Diego City.

Friday the Eagles lost both doubles matches by scores of 8-2 and 8-4.  In singles play the Eagles got a win at #5 when Rio Del Valle outlasted Ramon Guzman as all three sets went to tie-breakers 6-7, 7-6, and 10-8 in a very competitive match.  It was Del Valle's second singles victory of the season.

Monday MSJC came up just short in their attempt to upset El Camino on the road.  Connor Westrich and Thomas Westman won in the #1 doubles match 9-8 as they won the super set tiebreaker 7-5.  In singles Cole Proffitt won his #5 match 6-4, 4-6, and 10-4.  El Camino held on to win 5-4.

The Eagles will be at home twice this week as they wrap up the regular season with matches against Victor Valley and Imperial Valley on Tuesday and Thursday.  Both matches on the San Jacinto Campus will begin at 2 pm.

MSJC is now 2-11 overall on the season and 1-9 in conference play.
