The MSJC men's tennis team kicked-off the 2024 season by hosting Fullerton College Friday, the Eagles fell to Hornets 3-6.

The Eagle player of the match was freshman Chad Hayes as he defeated Fullerton's Felix Jayamaha  in three exciting sets.  Hayes dominated the first set winning it 6-1, before dropping the second.  The final set super-breaker went back-and-forth but Hayes played steady and pulled-out the win, 10-8.  Hayes used his consistent defense and the solid combination of drop shots and lobs to secure his first collegiate singles victory.

At first line singles, MSJC's Michael Masarani fought tooth-and-nail versus Fullerton's David Gutierrez in a high level duel that featured long rallies and aggressive play.  Set number one was a very long set that Gutierrez managed to win 5-7.  The second set was even throughout with the Hornet number one playing just well enough to edge-out Masarani 5-7 to win in straights.  

Tuesday the Eagles traveled to Orange Coast and lost 9-0.
