
The MSJC men's tennis team concluded the season at the 3C2A state tournament in Ojai last week winning both a singles and doubles opening round match.
Michael Masarani was the lone MSJC player to qualify for the singles draw, and opened the tournament with a 6-1, 6-4 win over a competitor from Chabot. Masarani lost in the round of sixty-four to Michael Chang of RCC 6-0 and 6-0.
Masarani would bounce back to also play in the doubles draw with his partner Landon Bristow the pair earned an opening round win against a duo from College of the Seqouis 6-4. 6-3. They would eventually fall in the round of sixty-four 6-1 and 6-1 to a doubles team from Irvine Valley.
The doubles team of Jesus Guadarrama and Keith Norman as well as Chad Hayes and Tony Martinez also competed in the Ojai draw. Both pairs lost tough opening round matches with Guadarrama and Norman losing 3-6, 3-6 and Martinez and Hayes falling 0-6. 3-6.
The trip to Ojai wrapped up a strong 2025 for the team as they finished the regular season in second place in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference standings. The Eagles went 7-3 in conference play and had an overall record of 7-8 for the year.
