The MSJC softball team had a 3-2 lead headed into the bottom of the 5th inning on Wednesday, but couldn't hold the lead as they fell in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference game at Chaffey 6-3.

The Eagles fell behind in the bottom of the first 2-0 as the Panthers jumped out to an early lead in Rancho Cucamonga.  MSJC answered with a pair of runs of their own in the top of the fourth when Gianna Gonzalez doubled home Myra Rivera and Makayla Ulloa to even up the game at 2-2.  The Eagles then took a brief lead in the top of the 5th when Ulloa drove in Destiny Sanchez and reached base on a Panther error.  Chaffey would answer with two runs in the bottom of the 5th to reclaim the lead at 4-3, and were able to tack on two more in the 6th to earn the 6-3 victory.

Ulloa and Julissa Ledesma each had two hits in the game for the Eagles as the team collected 10 hits on the day with eight different MSJC players making their way into the hit column.

Taylor Filippi went the distance in the circle for the Eagles as she threw 6 innings, allowing 6 runs on 11 hits and striking out two.

The loss makes MSJC 1-10 overall on the season, they are 1-4 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.  The Eagles return to action on Friday when they travel to College of the Desert for a 1 pm game.  MSJC will return home to the Menifee Campus on Wednesday March 11th when they host San Bernardino Valley.  Next Wednesday's game is set to begin at 3 pm.
