The MSJC softball team played their first conference game of the season this past Tuesday and earned a five-inning run rule victory over the Cerro Coso.

The Eagles and Coyotes played a second game on the day as well, but it was considered a non-conference contest.

In game one MSJC led just 4-1 after three innings, but added five runs in both the top of the fourth and top of the fifth to win 14-5. Brooke Schaffer had a pair of doubles and four RBIs to lead the MSJC offense. Annalie Castanon drove home two in the win. Trinity Barnes collected three hits including a triple and had an RBI.

The second game of the day started faster for the Eagles as they scored seven times in the top of the first on their way to another five-inning run rule win 14-4. Schaffer continued her hot hitting as she hit a home run and drove in four more runs for the Eagles. Natalie Juarez and Bailey Heuer each drove home two runs in the game.

Tuesday MSJC traveled to Riverside City College for a non-conference game and could not get the bats going as they fell to the Tigers 5-1. Trinity Robinson pitched well for the Eagles as she went five and a third innings only allowing two earned runs, but the Tigers took advantage of a couple of errors to build their lead. MSJC was limited to just four hits on the day with Schaffer driving home the lone run for the Eagles.

The Eagles are now 13-5 on the season and will play three more games this week. Thursday MSJC will host Santa Ana in Menifee for a 2 pm non-conference game. Friday the Eagles will travel to Palm Desert to take on College of the Desert in an IEAC doubleheader. The first game on Friday is set to begin at 4 pm.
