The MSJC softball team is one win away from claiming at least a share of the Inland Empire Athletic Conference title after a 7-0 win on Wednesday against College of the Desert.

The Eagles jumped ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning when Brooke Schaffer drove home Trinity Barnes with a single. MSJC built the lead in the bottom of the fourth when they scored four runs. Aubrey Morrow had an RBI triple, and Hayley Gano blasted a three-run homerun to left field. The Eagles would tack on a single run in the fifth and sixth innings with RBIs from Natalie Juarez and Bailey Heuer to put the game out of reach.

Ellianna Pasley started the game in the circle for MSJC and threw five shut out innings allowing just four hits and striking out four to earn the victory. Trinity Robinson closed the door with two innings of relief where she allowed just one hit.

MSJC has now won nine of their last ten games and are closing in on their first conference championship since 2009.

The Eagles are 11-1 in IEAC games with second place Chaffey at 9-3 and third place Victor Valley currently 9-4. MSJC will host Victor Valley on Friday in Menifee in a doubleheader and then close out the regular season hosting Chaffey on Wednesday April 23rd. One victory will secure at least a share of the title while two wins will be the program's first ever outright championship. Friday's first game against Victor Valley is scheduled for noon.
