W. Basketball Wins at Home Over Barstow

The MSJC women's basketball team picked up another win on Thursday night as they defeated visiting Barstow College 98-43 in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference game.

The Eagles took control of the game in the first period as they led 22-11 after the first 10 minutes of the evening.  MSJC would push that lead all the way to 46-16 by halftime and then extended that to 74-25 by the end of the third quarter.  MSJC hauled in 67 rebounds on the night and got off 100 field goal attempts.

Haylei Janssens led all scorers in the game as she poured in 31 points, she also pulled down a game high 17 rebounds to help MSJC to the victory.  Mariah Sanchez came off the bench to also reach double figures as she scored 14 for the Eagles.  De'Adra Ross came up just short of a double  double as she scored 8 points and grabbed 10 boards.  Deja Blue was solid in limited minutes as she scored 6 points, had 6 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists.

The win was the team's 13th in a row and improved their record to 14-2 overall on the year and 2-0 in IEAC games.  MSJC will have the weekend off before taking on a very tough Victor Valley team at home next Wednesday, January 8th.  The game on the 8th will be part of a doubleheader with the men's team, the contests on the 8th are set to begin at 5 pm and 7 pm with the women playing first.
