Eagle Women Split Games at Irvine Crossover

MSJC's Sandee Heiermann scored 31 points in two games over the weekend for the Eagle women's basketball team at the Irvine Valley Crossover Tournament.

The MSJC women's basketball team split a pair of games over the weekend at the Irvine Valley Crossover Tournament, losing to the host Lasers on Friday and defeating Rio Hondo on Saturday.

On Friday the Eagles fell behind 18-10 after the first quarter to 6th ranked Irvine and could never fully recover as they lost 75-63.  Sandee Heiermann led the offense for the Eagles with 17 points, she also had a game high 5 steals in the game.  Shyann Morreo took advantage of her first start of the year as she added 15 points for MSJC.  Diamonere Butler grabbed a game high 10 rebounds.

Saturday the Eagles fought through a rough shooting first half to lead Rio Hondo 25-20 at halftime on their way to a 60-36 victory.  Heiermann had 14 points against the Roadrunners to tie for team high honors with Mariah Sanchez, who came off the bench to also score 14.  Deja Blue helped guide the squad from her point guard position finishing the afternoon with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Alexis Pina added 9 points as well as a game high 14 rebounds as the Eagles dominated the boards on the day out rebounding the Roadrunners 60-32.  Alaysia Kidwell added 8 rebounds for MSJC.

The Eagles are now 5-4 on the season and have a busy week coming up with 3 games on the schedule.  Tuesday the Eagles will travel to El Camino for a 6 pm game, before returning home on Wednesday to take on Grossmont at 5.  MSJC wraps up the week with a trip to Santa Ana on Saturday with a 1 pm tip-off.
