
The MSJC women's basketball team picked up a road win on Tuesday at El Camino and a home win Wednesday night against Grossmont in non-conference action.
Tuesday MSJC led by five after the first quarter and seven after the third on their way to a 64-54 win at El Camino. The Eagles were led in scoring by Sandee Heiermann who scored 17 points, she also grabbed 9 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Shyann Morreo connected on a pair of three pointers on her way to scoring 16 in the victory, while Deja Blue also reached double figures with 10 points. Alexis Pina pulled down a game high 10 rebounds.
Wednesday the Eagle offense got off to a fast start as they jumped out to a 19-9 lead after the opening quarter and then out scored Grossmont 30-10 in the second period to build a lead of 49-19 by halftime. The offense slowed some in the third, but bounced back in the fourth as the Eagles won by a final of 84-52. Five MSJC players reached double figures in scoring with all 10 Eagles scoring in the contest. Pina had a double double as she scored a team high 15 points and pulled down a game high 12 rebounds. Blue finished Wednesday's game with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. Alaysia Kidwell and Mariah Sanchez both added 11 points in the victory and Morreo had 10. Maliyah Bosley just missed double figures as she added 9 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists, Rayven Crook dished out 5 assists.
The two wins improve MSJC's record on the year to 7-4, they will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Santa Ana. Saturday's game at Santa Ana will tip-off at 1 pm.
