Fast Start Carries Eagle Women's Basketball to Victory

The MSJC women's basketball team came out of the gates quickly on Saturday afternoon building a 24-5 lead after the opening quarter on their way to a 106-45 IEAC win over visiting Barstow.

The Eagles used a balanced scoring attack and forced 30 Viking turnovers to control the game from the out set.  MSJC also out rebounded Barstow 55-29 to secure the victory.

Alexis Pina came off the bench to lead five Eagles in double figures on the day with 19, she also pulled in a game high 10 rebounds to record a double double.  Mariah Sanchez also gave MSJC a big boost off the bench as she scored 18 points in the contest on six made three point shots.  Diamonere Butler added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals for the Eagles while Deja Blue had 13 points and Sandee Heiermann scored 11.  Blue also pulled in 8 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.  Two other Eagles just missed double figures off the bench as Maliyah Bosley scored 9 points and Shyann Morreo had 8.

The Eagles improved their overall record on the season to 10-4 with the win, they are 2-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference games.  MSJC will be back in action on Tuesday December 21st when the host Imperial Valley before taking a week off for the Christmas Holiday.  Tuesday's game is scheduled to tip-off at 5 pm.
