
The MSJC women's basketball team picked up a key Inland Empire Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday night as they won at home over visiting Victor Valley 83-40.
The Eagles fought through a highly competitive first quarter to take a 20-13 lead after one. MSJC's defense did a solid job in the second period allowing the Eagles to increase their lead to 40-20 by halftime. MSJC closed the game out in the second half with some strong work on the boards as they out scored the Rams 43-20 in the second half.
Four Eagles finished the night in double figures led by Rayven Crook who scored a game high 19 points. Alexis Pina came off the bench to add 16 points and 12 rebounds as she recorded a double double in the win. Sandee Heiermann had 14 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists for MSJC. Deja Blue just missed a triple double on the night as she grabbed a game high 15 rebounds while scoring 13 points and dishing out a season high 9 assists.
The win for MSJC improved their overall record to 16-4, they are now 6-0 in IEAC action, Victor Valley fell to 14-7 and 5-1.
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Chaffey to take on the Panthers in a 1 pm contest. There will be a men's game immediately following on Saturday at 3 pm.
