WBB: Eagles Hold Off Chaffey for IEAC Road Win

The MSJC women's basketball team shot just 33% for the game, but held a huge rebounding advantage on Saturday as they defeated Chaffey on the road 63-55.

The Eagles led by just two points after the first period and by just one at the half as they struggled to get any offensive rhythm on the day.  A 61-41 advantage on the boards allowed MSJC to stay in the game until finally pushing the lead out to 9 with just over two minutes to play in the contest.

Deja Blue led the Eagle offense with 15 points, she also grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked four shots on the day.  Alexis Pina came off the bench to score 12 points and haul in 8 rebounds after playing just three minutes in the first half due to foul trouble.  Sandee Heiermann and Alaysia Kidwell each scored 10 points a piece for MSJC.  Kidwell was huge on the boards as she pulled in a game best 16 including 10 on the offensive end, Heierman had 8 boards.  Diamonere Butler had a tough offensive day, but still also grabbed 8 boards.

The win improved the Eagles to 17-4 overall on the season they are 7-0 in Inland Empire Athetic Conference games, Chaffey fell to 10-9 and 4-2.

MSJC will be on the road twice this week as they travel to Victor Valley on Monday and Barstow on Friday.  Both games are set to tip-off at 5 pm.
