
The MSJC women's basketball team capped off their 2022-23 regular season by finishing unbeaten in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play and securing their fifth straight league title with a win over Barstow on Friday.
The Eagles, who were also celebrating their 2023 sophomores, jumped out to a 24-5 lead after the first quarter on their way to a 93-37 win. Sandee Heiermann had a big game as she scored a game high 30 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. Rayven Crook added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the Eagles, while Alexus Williams had 14 points and 9 boards just missing a double double. Jana Roman also just missed a double double as she ended the game with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
The Eagles honored sophomores; Monica Malone, Heiermann, Williams, Crook, Alexis Pina, Maliyah Bosley, and Shyann Morreo with a brief ceremony prior to Friday's game.
The Eagles closed out the regular season 26-2 overall and 14-0 in IEAC games. The conference title was their fifth straight and 8th in the past 10 seasons.
MSJC earned the #9 seed in the CCCAA Regional Tournament and will host Santa Barbara City in the opening round of the play-offs on Wednesday. Wednesday's game will tip-off at 5:30 pm with a men's play-off game to follow at 7:30.
