The MSJC women's basketball team started their 2024-25 season on Thursday and Friday as they picked up two wins in the 10th Annual San Jacinto Lions Club Tip-Off Classic.
The Eagles opened the event with a game against Antelope Valley on Thursday night and held a 46-26 lead with just over three minutes to play in the 3rd period when an AVC injury halted the game. The contest did not continue beyond that point and MSJC was awarded the victory. At the time of the stoppage Trinity Skinner was the Eagles leading scorer with 14 points. Natalie Derla had 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Friday MSJC faced off against Long Beach City College and built a 43-17 lead by halftime on their way to a 66-46 victory. Drasoni Kyles led a balanced offensive attack for the Eagles with 14 points. Kohen Marshall scored 11 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and had a team high of 5 assists. Both Laisha Lazu and Princess McCauley had 8 points each to go along with a team high of 11 rebounds.
The Eagles will take their 2-0 record on the road next weekend when they compete in the Comet Classic hosted by Palomar College. Friday MSJC will play East Los Angeles College and Saturday the Eagles take on Allan Hancock. Tip-off each day at Palomar is set for 5 pm.
