Eagles Bounce Back With Pair of Home Wins

The MSJC women's basketball team picked up a pair of home victories over the weekend as they defeated Irvine Valley and Skyline at the Eagle Invitational.

Friday night the Eagles led from start to finish in a win over Irvine Valley. MSJC led by 13 at the half 37-24 and closed out the game in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Lasers 23-16 on their way to the 76-55 victory. Kohen Marshall led the way for MSJC with a game high 27 points, she also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. Drasoni Kyles also reached double figures with 12 points and both Natalie Derla and Laisha Lazu added 10.

Saturday afternoon MSJC built a 12-point lead against Skyline after three quarters on their way to a 67-60 victory. Kyles and Lazu both scored 14 points for the Eagles with Lazu also pulling in 7 rebounds. Marshall added 10 points and 8 boards while Princess McCauley scored 10 points in just 16 minutes of action. Trinity Skinner led the MSJC rebounding effort with a game high 11.

The Eagles now stand at 6-3 on the season and have just one game this week. Wednesday MSJC will travel to Imperial Valley for a non-conference match up with the Desert Warriors. Tip-off is set for 6 pm on Wednesday.
