The MSJC women's basketball team won their third straight game on Wednesday night as they defeated the Imperial Valley Desert Warriors 44-40 on the road.
The Eagles survived a rough shooting night as they connected on just 15 of 48 total shots and 4 of 20 from three-point range. The MSJC defense responded by limiting IVC to just 29% shooting. The Eagles jumped out to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter and led 26-18 at halftime on their way to victory.
Laisha Lazu had a double double to lead the way for the Eagles as she scored 12 points and pulled in 11 rebounds. Drasoni Kyles was the only other MSJC player to reach double figures in scoring with 10 points. Kohen Marshall and Natalie Derla recorded 7 points each.
The Eagles now 7-3 on the season will open Inland Empire Athletic Conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Chaffey for a 5 pm game against the Panthers. MSJC returns home on Saturday to host Copper Mountain College at 1 pm.
